In Loving Memory of Douglas D. Cicione

Doug’s memorial service was held on August 17, 2026, at Pacific View Memorial Park & Mortuary in Corona del Mar, followed by his burial and a reception with family and friends.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who joined us, traveled to be with us, sent flowers, prayers, stories, and messages, or simply held Doug in their thoughts from afar. It was a beautiful gathering filled with faith, friendship, laughter, and so many reminders of the extraordinary life Doug lived and the people he touched along the way.

Doug’s Digital Home will continue to grow as we add photographs, stories, memories, and pieces of the life he loved so much. We hope you’ll continue to visit, remember him, and share your own stories of Doug.

CELEBRATION OF LIFE OF DOUGLAS DAVID CICIONE - 8/17/26

Welcome old friends and welcome new friends,

We are here today to honor and celebrate the life of our friend Douglas David Cicione who we affectionately called Dougie boy , the Dude, and  he referred to us as Donny Boy for our buddy Don Wiley , Davey Boy, me,  and Cooch for our buddy Michael Marcucci.  Must be a New York naming convention from the Godfather.  We became the 4 musketeers and as east coasters enjoyed the California lifestyle.  After all, this was a vacation for us from the cold on the East Coast.

Dougie was more than a friend, he was the brother we never had, he was a counselor in time of need, he was a financial advisor, a drinking buddy, a golfer, and surfer.   He is and always will be family.

I met Doug in 1969, 57 years ago, as freshmen at St Lawrence University in Upstate NY. He was on my freshman dorm hall, we joined Sigma Chi Fraternity together and we have remained friends ever since.  Once you became his friend you became his friend for life.  He was that kind of guy.

He contributed to our lives, wrote our Trust Estates and Trusts for the countless other clients and friends he advised.

He touched our hearts with his love, humor, generosity, financial wisdom and always being there for us in times of need.  He got us front row seats to a Tom Jones concert at the Hollywood Bowl.  Tom was one of his clients. And yes the women threw lingerie on stage.

We hiked in Yosemite together, golfed in Santa Barbara, Palm Springs and the Los Alamitos Navy golf course., went to the Del Mar Horse races, Danced at Costas and the Village Pub in Palm Springs. Fine dined at Los Consuela’s and the Cliff House restaurant in Palm Springs, the Luxe and Wind and Sea restaurants in Dana Point, and Arnold Palmers and Enzo’s in LaQuinta.

We Celebrated birthdays together as a family in LaQuinta with Cousin Bobby, and Deborah and Michael McGarrey, and birthdays in Dana Point and Catalina with us all.  It was important to Doug to spend time together and Make Memories.

Doug was a fighter.  As this disease and medication began to take its toll on him this last year, he would never give in nor ever give up.  In fact he played golf with Cooch and me at Los Alamitos on 11/28 and ate at our favorite spot, The Original Fish Company/ Off the Hook one last time with  his favorite meal;  Oysters on the half shell, calamari and Sea Bass.

Doug texted me in January that he bought the newest Taylor Made driver for Christmas, after researching it on Chat GPT of course, and was excited to try it out with us.   He never got the chance because of his declining health.

His Guardian Angel and girlfriend Laura Burkhart supported and loved him throughout this ordeal taking him to countless Drs appointments and emergency rooms at 2:00am. She was his sole mate, and love of his life.  We are putting her up for Saint hood for her love and support.  She and her French Bulldog Frankie are part of our ever growing family.

We questioned why our Lord took Doug from us at such an early age. We surmised he must have needed a trust attorney in heaven.  However, we do count our blessings to have known Doug these many years and became better people because of his presence in our lives. We will meet again in heaven just like we met again in California after graduating from St Lawrence.

He left this earth a better place for us all.

I will remember you my friend when I’m searching for parking at Capistrano Beach just like we did, when I’m at the outdoor surf complex near the Palm Spring Airport, when I’m at the Marriott hotel overlooking Dana Harbor, and when I’m in Catalina.  I will lift a glass of wine in your honor at Enzos, Palmers, Cliff House or Luxe restaurants.  I will cherish your putting prowess using the Patent Pending, programmable, pneumatic, Pendulum Push Putt. I know you will be there at Los Al Golf Course with us smiling because we struggle at putting.

We have learned to hug each other  and say I love you to all of our friends  each time we meet because we are NOT promised tomorrow.
